Arriving
to Surabaya (international arrivals)
Juanda Airport (Bandar Udara Juanda) is located some 18 kilometers
from the city centre. Depending on traffic, time to the city is
about 40 minutes. As of February 1, 2004 (with the exception of
most ASEAN member countries) all international arrivals must purchase
a "Visitors Visa" upon arrival. The cost of a 30 day non-extendable
visa is US$35.00. A three day visa is also available for US$10.00.
Some nationalities may apply and pay for the visa upon arrival -

for more information. Most though, will need to apply, pay and obtain
the visa prior to arriving to Indonesia.
After purchasing your visa you may proceed
to immigration. Visitors and tourists entering Indonesia need a
valid passport, a visa and a completed disembarkation card and customs
declaration (given to you on the aircraft and filled out prior to
arrival at the immigration desk) and onward/ return tickets to your
next destination.
Once past Immigration you will find luggage carts available free
of charge. The carts are generally not well maintained so be prepared.
As you make your way to the luggage claim area you will pass restrooms,
banks, moneychangers etc. If you don't have any local currency now
is the time to change a bit. (Unless the company car or hotel is
picking you up, you will need it for the taxi ride into town).
